What to expect

Pregnancy runs about 63 days from ovulation. Natural whelping is typical, but confirm the due date and puppy count with your vet so you know what is normal for her litter.

Managing the coat and the heat

A thick double coat and a warm whelping room can make her uncomfortable. Keep the room within the recommended 75 to 80°F (24 to 27°C) but make sure she can step away from the heat source and lie on a cool floor.

Independent but needs a calm space

Huskies can be restless late in pregnancy. Provide a secure, escape-proof indoor area for whelping and keep other pets out of the room.
